Don’t risk damaging the printhead in your printer.  The printhead in your dot matrix printer gets all of its lubrication from the ribbon.  Oki long life ribbons are specially formulated to provided the proper amount and type of lubrication to the printhead, carriage assembly and the carriage shaft for long life without gumming up.  Cheap low quality ribbons can cause your printer to gum up damaging the printhead and/or space motor.
